Board of Selectmen Candidates

Don't forget to come to Meet the Candidates night at Rye Public Library on Thursday, March 9th from 7-9pm.

Phil Winslow

Phil Winslow for Rye Selectman

I am a New Hampshire native and graduate of the UNH Whittemore School of Business. This was followed by four years of active duty as an US Air Force Captain and subsequently living and working on three continents as an international business executive before returning to our beloved New Hampshire and to Rye.

We are doubly blessed as we have granddaughters in both the Rye Elementary and Rye Junior High Schools.

My objective as Selectman is to:

  • maintain a semirural community

  • ensure a stable tax base

  • protect our precious water resources

  • assure a safe environment,

  • preserve the Historic Character of Rye.

I wish also to be your representative in working cooperatively with the School Board, supporting the Rye Water District, working toward a safe and signaled intersection at Lang Rd with Rte 1, and investigating town wide cell service.

As an overriding philosophy I will work to encourage an atmosphere of respect and inclusion throughout all town activities.

I am currently the:

  • Vice Chair of the Rye Planning Board

  • Chair of the Historic District Commission (HDC)

  • Vice Chair of the Capital Improvements Program Committee

  • Commissioner on the Rockingham Planning Commission

And previously:

  • Member of the NH Senate Commission on Coastal Risk and Hazard

  • Town Parsonage Committee

  • Chair of the Wetlands Overlay District subcommittee.

I would be honored by your vote at the March 14th Town Election.

Paul Goldman

Hello everyone. My name is Paul Goldman and, as a Rye resident, here are my reasons for running for the position of Selectman, and for asking for your support and vote.

Rye was chosen by us, my wife Kathy and myself, almost 18 years ago to retire to because of its rural, small town character. We love this Town very much and are committed to its heritage.

Almost thirteen years have been spent by me on the Rye Budget Committee; 10 years as Chairman. There is deep understanding by me regarding Town Operations, Finances, and Departments.

Almost thirteen years have been spent by me on the Rye Zoning Board Of Adjustment; two years as Vice-Chairman. This has given me extensive understanding of Rye Zoning and Land Use Ordinances.

As a retired General Manager, my 37 year career with the Hewlett Packard Company provided me with the opportunity for tremendous responsibility and accountability for business growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee development. It was a blessing for me to personally know, and work with the founders, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard.

Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Engineering and Business, along with my work experience, have prepared me as a clear and logical, but compassionate, thinker and decision-maker.

Additional attributes are those of being a good listener and a fair and honest person.

The most important reason to elect me is that it is my desire to serve the Town of Rye.

Thank you for your consideration and your vote.

Sincerely,

Paul Goldman

Richard Moynahan

My name is Richard Moynahan, a native of Rye. I am seeking the open position on the Board of Selectmen.

I am retired from the General Electric Co. after 40 years of service holding various job titles. I also worked part time or 22 1/2 years now retired as a tour bus operator and school bus driver coming in contact with many senior citizens and students. These positions overall have given me a good sense of responsibility interfacing with the public.

Between the School Board and the Parent Teachers Association you should all be proud of our children who seem to get high marks in any surveys that are taken.

Thank you for for you input.

Sincerely,

Richard Moynahan
